Lucas Paqueta is on the verge of completing a move to West Ham and this has caught the attention of AC Milan. ‘Why?’, you ask. The Rossoneri included a 15% resale clause when they sold the Brazilian two years ago.
Paqueta was signed by Milan for just under €40m and high expectations came with that price tag. The midfielder was never able to make a huge impact and the Rossoneri eventually sold him to Lyon for €20m in 2020.
Milan included a 15% resale clause and that was a very smart decision. As was reported by L’Equipe late last night (read here), West Ham are about to complete the signing of Paqueta for €60m including bonuses, which is great news for Milan.
However, as highlighted by Daniele Longo, the Rossoneri will not be entitled to 15% of €60m. Instead, they will be entitled to the profit made by Lyon, which is what they paid for him vs. what they sold him for. In this case, it would be 15% of around €40m = €6m.
Ironically, what a perfect player he’d be in Pioli’s system!
yeah cant understand wh7y did we sell him… 🙁 he turned out to be great
