CM: The truth about Milan’s interest in promising River Plate midfielder

By Isak Möller -

As Franck Kessie has decided to leave on a free transfer, AC Milan will sign a midfielder this summer and several players have been linked with the club. River Plate youngster Enzo Fernandez is one of them.

The Rossoneri want to reinforce their squad for next season and given Kessie’s departure, a midfield signing is a must. Yacine Adli will arrive back from his loan at Bordeaux, but the feeling is that he will play higher up the pitch.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are keeping tabs on River Plate’s Enzo Fernandez, who turned 21 in January. In fact, they have watched him live more than once. However, there is strong competition from several big European clubs including Juventus, but that isn’t the only ‘hurdle’.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have Renato Sanches at the top of their wish list and they will give priority to that signing this summer. Should the talks for the Portuguese international break down, then they could make a move for Fernandez but it appears unlikely for now.
