CM: Two out, two doubts and a key return – Milan face Sassuolo ‘in extreme emergency’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will face a very fired up Sassuolo side this evening with some key players missing, according to a report.

Despite the fact that the Super League topic is attracting everyone’s attention, Milan will play an important game in their hopes of qualification for the Champions League. Sassuolo boss Roberto De Zerbi used fiery words to describe his state of mind towards the Super League, and Stefano Pioli did not want to allow himself any distraction whatsoever during his presser.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan will host the Neroverdi at San Siro ‘in extreme emergency’ with a series of injuries that risk forcing Pioli to take on such a delicate challenge with a reworked line-up. Ismael Bennacer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are unlikely to recover so Meité and Rebic are expected to take their place.

Even Hakan Calhanoglu and Theo Hernandez are not at 100% of their condition and their presence against Sassuolo will be confirmed this morning. Pioli does not want to take unnecessary risks, considering that next Monday the Rossoneri will face a delicate away match in Rome against Lazio.

In the worst case, Brahim Diaz and Diogo Dalot would be back in contention for a starting shirt, while Davide Calabria will be back after a month out due to having minor knee surgery.
