CM: What Leo Duarte’s injury means for the future of Matteo Gabbia

AC Milan have changed their plans over the future of defender Matteo Gabbia following Leo Duarte’s injury, according to a report.

It was confirmed on Thursday that Duarte will be out for up to four months after undergoing surgery to fix a problem with his achilles tendon.

We then reported via our mercato expert Vito Angele that Milan are now on the lookout for a new central defender in January, with two names in particular interesting the Rossoneri.

As per a report on Calciomercato.com though, the news regarding Duarte could have an impact on the future of Matteo Gabbia.

The 20-year-old was involved in preseason preparations with the senior squad, impressing to the extent that they decided not to loan him out, however it had been suggested that he could leave on loan in January.

The outlet claims that Milan have been ‘forced to change their mind’ about Gabbia, who is now destined to remain at Milanello until the end of the season.
