Colombo reveals why Cremonese loan feels like the ‘right choice’: “I need this experience”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan striker Lorenzo Colombo has revealed his belief that joining Cremonese on loan was the ‘right choice’ for his future.

A statement on the club’s official website earlier this week confirmed that Milan and Cremonese have reached an agreement over the loan of the 18-year-old striker.

As expected there is no mention of anything such as an obligation or option to buy meaning there doesn’t appear to be any chance of the deal becoming a permanent one.

Colombo spoke to reporters during his official unveiling as a Cremonese player earlier today, with his comments transcribed by MilanLive and translated below.

“I need this experience to play and mature, I think the right time has come. At Milan I have learned a lot in recent months, working daily with champions you can’t help but grow,” he said.

“Why Cremonese? I felt that this was the right choice for me. Cremonese wanted me more than others, even though I had several proposals. I hope to start well, the coach has made me understand that I have to work hard to gain space.”

It will be a useful exercise for the teenager to go and get regular minutes in Serie B in a side that are currently 14th and in desperate need of attacking firepower.
