Whilst Theo Hernandez dominates the headlines, Rafael Leao is also being criticised in the papers, and the AC Milan star risks a similar fate.
Today, there has been much about Theo’s future in the long term, and similar things are being written about Leao, though his future is in the short term.
As Gazzetta dello Sport write (as seen below), the game against Feyenoord showed that Milan have a clear balance issue with the Fantastic Four. From front to back, things were not good enough, and now the system may be changed again.
To facilitate this, it seems that Leao will be removed from the starting XI after his performance in Rotterdam. Whilst Joao Felix was not much better, he was slightly more effective, and at least managed to make some attempts, which is where his compatriot failed.
There has been enough talk about the winger’s performance and his issue with finishing chances, but Conceicao wants words to have meaning.
Leao must grow more in the defensive phase, and whilst Felix may be marginally better, his level is perhaps not as drastic as the long-standing star.
Conceicao has already voiced that he has dropped Leao for tactical reasons, rather than injury as was once imagined, and it seems this weekend another tactical decision will be made. After all, the ‘four-star project’ must grow, for everyone’s sake.

Milan did better as a team when Leao on the bench. Conceicao should try for the next game
If he needs a rest, its fine. If we prefer Felix, then we have no point in being a football club. I don’t think you will find elsewhere an example where a team prefers a 6 mounth lonee over its best player for years. Not to speak that Felix did nothing good in last two metches, and he never will.
Nothing happens without Leao in our offence.
If you want to bench him, you first need to figire out that problem.
With Tij and Puli not producing lately, we have no option but to play Leao. If you dont believe me, then go (re)watch first half of Empoli game.
@Tito
Sorry, that was supposed to be response to the article, not to your comment. This site is so buggy
“If we prefer Felix, then we have no point in being a football club. ”
LOL!!!! You just won the DRAMA QUEEN OF THE MONTH award and there’s still 2 weeks left of this month! 😀 😀 😀 😀
Leao is the worst every game for about a year. One goal or assist does not cover his unwillingness to run(which is not only defensive unwillingness but does not even run to atack) or his passing accuracy which is close to 40%. He can’t combine with anyone and goes forward with no plan. His advantage is open game but it is easily countered. 1 or 2 years ago theo was thriving, now with his situation leao cant get carried 🙁
Plz try felix in at least next 5 games. 1 game is not showing everything but the last 30 games shows that leao cannot play at Milan’s levell
Maybe we should also try Felix as captain, so we have abother remainder of the Bentner era.
Please Acmilan should look for leao replacement then Theo replacement then we need more attacking midfield to join Felix so I prefer pulisic to start over leao it will be nice one thank to Felix support.please I see conceicao as the best coach Acmilan have ever hard so he needed more time .
Ac milan should sign igor Pixiao of feynnoord he’s far better than Leao that boy has lot’s of energy
I can see that most people here don’t k ow football. This Theo you are all shouting over has never gotten a backup since he signed for this club. No rest. He plays every matches .. No encouragement.
Did Maldini need rest? Nope. Theo has been walking on the pitch for almost a year now so why should he need to rest? 😀
Let the coach do the magic. The directors and advisor just don’t disturb him.
Sandro tanali was doing the job of both reijnders and fofana together……
Leao and theo are better when allow to play their football….@bakary how can you compare leao and paxio??? Even if you’re smoking iron you ought to respect leao
I think people will respect Leao when he respects the shirt. And that will be… Never.
Interesting, a 2nd coach, both Portuguese, is benching Leao.
We were told that Fonseca and Leao didn’t click and Fonseca had an agenda against Leao. Had nothing to do with Leao being lazy and unproductive.
Leao is the only common denominator in the situation.
Put Sottil in on the flank, bench Leao. Bring another CM in – Musah/Bondo alongside Fofana and push Reijnders behind the striker, watch him score more goals.
Felix and Leao dropped.
Leao and Theo should be sold in the summer to raise revenue to purchase players who’ll be consistent. Leao and Theo are done for Milan, it’s time to move on from these two for real.
