Theo Hernandez is currently having his worst season in an AC Milan shirt, and there are multiple things that this affects, most importantly though is the future.
It has been said far too often this season, and perhaps last, how Milan’s stars are too inconsistent for the figures being thrown around – what good is a €7 million player for a few games a season when the rest of the season they play like a player on a much more insignificant wage?
The main culprit for this has been Theo Hernandez, and the Feyenoord game was just another page in his worst chapter. Today, Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) has looked at the situation.
Seriously at risk
As things stand, Theo is remembered more for his style than his football, his aesthetics over athletics. Debuting pink hair in the game against Feyenoord could have been flipped with a good performance, but another stylistic choice can define another poor performance.
Formerly, he looked forward and was a sensational visionary, but now, he fails to do things that put him out of safety – the handbrake has been pulled on the field. In fact, he has received the second-lowest score from Gazzetta; only Emerson Royal has played worse.
What does the future hold?
This season comes at the worst time for everyone involved. Theo is playing for a new contract with the Rossoneri, which will not arrive with the current situation. He demands €7m per season, a figure that has no value to the Diavolo so there is ‘no intention’ to pay him this much.
So, an exit looms, and Gazzetta writes that the Frenchman is ‘destined to change airs’. However, the mercato value drops with every poor performance and changing the shade of his hair will not add value to a move. Ultimately, it’s football not fashion, and Theo’s performances in the latter have been equally as controversial as the ones on it.

One by one moneyball the players until you can not do any moneyballing as the guys you bring do not have any market value.
Théo is heading towards Milan exit !
*pretends to be shocked*
This has been coming for long time, we missed the chance to really make good money from him last summer. To be honest, I think both player and club need it. Theo is likely suffering from some physical fatigue after another full summer tournament, but probably some mental fatigue after carrying this team through the last few years.
Question will be whether we have any sort of succession plan or will just be scrabbling around for a replacement at the end of the summer window.
Theos hair looks like my daughters hair after a day
at an amusement park
It’s hard to see who would pay a decent price for him at this point.
Not Bayern.
Not a big EPL team.
Not Real, Barca or Athletico.
Best hope is PSG or a mid table EPL side.
He is not the problem, leao is!
Both of Leo and him are the problems. SELL THEM
Yes, Theo is playing without a backup for how many seasons? The best they got was Florenzi and Dalot, right backs so he played with every small injury. If I was him I’d leave 2 years ago.
I will suggest we sell theo first leave leo to know if he is been influenced by theo in the field if he still maintain this is undisciplined and nonchalant attitude in the field then we sell him to as well
I would spin that the opposite way. Get a good price for Leao this summer (if we can) and buy a decent LB and midfielder as well as Ricci (who is planned anyway).
Re-new his contract and let him rest this summer. He’ll be back in form next season.
The cost of re-newing is less than buying a similar starter.
I agree
What’s the relation between Theo and this moneyball politics? People say such nonsense…
Yeah lets sell one of our key player just because he got a mediocre season, which is the effect of d*mb management who didn’t bring a solid DM and hired two different coach.
Some of you so called “Milan fans” are disgusting.
And you don’t understand the big picture. His contract is running out. He won’t get a raise – nor deserve one. You’d rather let him walk free in 2026 than sell him? I bet you’d make an exceptional sporting director.
Yeah, it’s everyone else’s fault that Theo isn’t interested in giving his 100% this season. We get it. I’m sure it’s the so-called “Milan fans” who made that happen. 😛
Now I no many Milan fans don’t watch our match and still under delusions that leao will be the best player in the world, dreams
What magic do u people want from Theo wen he will run and pass leao in attack for them to combine leao will loose possession and won’t track back to recover and Theo will run down again for cover and having both the wing and full back of the opponents attacking him leao will be look and waiting for him to be super man to defend to people at once
Leao was the only sacrifices have and day did not see it
Cash in on Theo and Leao while we can. The glimpses of brilliance they show come far far to seldom for two players that are suppose to carry us to the scudetto.
Replace Leao with Paixão from Feyenoord (35 mil) or Gordon from Newcastle (60 mil). Both work 10 times as hard as Leao and dont vanish for 80 min/game offensively.
Replace Theo with Grimaldo from Leverkusen (30-35 mil) or Calafiori from Arsenal who isnt getting any playing time (45 mil). Udogie is another option with Spurs underperforming (45 mil).
More expensive players then Milan usually sign, but in turn we will get alot from selling Theo/Leao, and will have to buy top class replacements.
Furlani please give theo his 7 million salary. He really need it. He need to frequently change his expensive hair style.
grimaldo is a lm and is slow as heck and isnt the best at defending so some other lb and yeah selling theo and leao might be a good decision but also a terrible one how can we trust this managment im sure they are going to buy a random player no one ever heard of
Do we have a backup for the guy? No? Ok carry on then.
There’s no market for Theo currently. Keep him and let him rest and reset.
All the players we talk about being overused, like Puli and Reijnders, but no one says a word about Theo who’s been overused SINCE 2019! Between Serie A and National commitments, when has he ever had any real rest?
He’s athletic but not mentally sharp anymore in anything he does. Has he forgotten how to play suddenly? Has he lost all his talent? NO. Still the same player who needs to recharge his batteries.
Outside of ClubWC which Milan isn’t part of, there are no competitions going on. Hopefully Theo can just take the summer off and reset.
exactly @acm1899 theo has the most minute in the last few season and never a rest when it’s others then it’s fine but when it’s theo then all is against him
‘let him rest’ yes that’s what he needs right now, the same with leao and reijnders probably.. but milan standings on the league makes the coach cannot do that as they are the starters and milan need to climb up the position.
