Conceicao reflects on ‘very good’ week of training ahead of crucial Lecce clash

Sergio Conceicao was very happy about having worked one full week with the team at Milanello, explaining just how much of a difference it makes during today’s presser. Whether it will result in a win, however, is a different question.

Since he joined the club just before the new year, there have been many mid-week games. This week, however, he was able to work on tactics that he wasn’t able to improve before, seeing as so much time had to be spent on pre and post-match analysis.

During today’s press conference, on the eve of the Lecce clash, Conceicao was asked about the week at Milanello and how the players have performed. He sounded rather optimistic when he discussed the training sessions, suggesting a turning point might be on the way.

“It was important to work with some players on different situations that we have never worked on. If we talk about desire at a club like Milan, it’s not good, everyone must have desire. It’s something that must be there every day for those who come here to defend this shirt.

“In training, I see who gives me more guarantees to start the match, everyone gave me a good response. Then I’m the one who must choose the best strategy to win a difficult match.”

“I repeat, the week has been very good in terms of work. But it doesn’t mean that tomorrow we will win 4-0 against Lecce, maybe. We must not look to the past, but to the future and the future is tomorrow.”

Of course, everything will depend on tomorrow’s result as yet another defeat would make it difficult at Milanello, even with more days to train. When the players lose the joy for the game, it’s difficult for any manager to get through.

  1. Oh so now Conceicau excuse for all these bad result is he didn’t get a full week training. Last time i check, he managed to won against Juve and Inter at Super Coppa without a full week training. I guess that’s a fluke huh?

But ok then, let’s see if Milan can played well + win against Lecce. If it’s the same then this guy needs to leave Milan at the end of season.

  2. He’s got Lecce away.
Then another full week and Como at home.
    Then an international break.

Therefore if there are two more bad performances. Conceicao won’t still be in charge for the Napoli game at the end if March.

    1. He will be there until the end of seasons for sure. It’s useless to fire him 8 games before the end and then sign another coach.. now if we finish 7th or 11th it doesn’t metter..
