It seems as though the rumours regarding a possible return to Serie A for Mario Mandzukic with the Milan shirt are gaining steam rapidly.
According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), contacts with his agent Giovanni Branchini are continuous, a sign that the Rossoneri are really thinking about the operation and that the track is absolutely concrete.
The Croatian center-forward has already had a couple of direct phone calls with technical director Paolo Maldini, and the paper claims that during these talks Mandzukic reiterated once again that he would come to Milan quickly.
The former Bayern Munich and Juventus striker is currently a free agent, so he would arrive for no transfer fee, while the management are willing to offer him a €1.8m salary for six months.
At Casa Milan these are days of reflection, during which the pros and cons of the possible arrival of the Croatian – something we analysed here – are being evaluated. The greatest doubts are certainly about his physical condition as he has not played an official match since March 2020, and about what its impact could be in the locker room.
However, there are also many positive aspects, such as his quality, technique, experience and character.
