Theo Hernandez started two games in the USA pre-season tour and came off the bench in one, getting some minutes in his leg. However, as highlighted by Italian media, he’s running behind his teammates.
The left-back had a very demanding last season, between Milan and the World Cup run with France, and the vacation was thus much-needed for him. However, having returned to work, it’s clear that he’s lacking a bit physically.
As stated in today’s edition of Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), Hernandez is clearly not in top condition yet and still needs a few more weeks to find his groove. The likes of Tijjani Reijnders and Rafael Leao, meanwhile, have looked very bright.
Hernandez is a crucial player for Milan and we can only hope that he will be back to his best for the season opener against Bologna in less than three weeks. Stefano Pioli will be counting on it.
I’m starting to get the impression that due to many reasons, such as conditioning ad all of the new players, we’re going to be slow out of the gate. If we do, it will cost Pioli his job come November.
Oh yes everything is falling Part let’s run around in circles and panic. Good one.
Not panicking at all. I think this squad will come good in the long run. I just also think that there is a good chance that we’ll stumble in the beginning and that if we do it could cost Pioli.
So Pioli is going to get fired because one player is working to get back to shape after coming back from vacation?
And that’s assuming this story has any veracity.
Dude, reread my first post. It’s not about one player.
Your post is based on a false premise.
I like you. You fit these pessimists. They kill my morale for the new season with their constant complains
I doubt that. To me the termination of Maldini was also a commitment to Pioli. I think Cardinale likes Pioli and, barring some cataclysmically bad start, he will be safe.
I wouldn’t say he likes Pioli, he trusts him. He believes supporting the coach is the way forward, however, I think Pioli is history at the end of the season because he’ll be held to account for blowing money on RLC and Pulisick, who are likely to tank, and not addressing the CF and DM position. Over €100 million spent and most of that on midfielders. Utter stupidity. Most people here could have done a better job in the mercato.
And? He had a tiring season and a World Cup. So he had some rest and a margarita on a beach (I’m guessing). I’m sure he will be back in full force with a bit of time.
He just got back.
There are just about 3 weeks left until the start of the season.
More than enough time to get in top physical condition.
One player on the team I don’t worry about being in top shape when the season starts its Theo Hernández. It doesn’t matter if it’s minute 1 or minute 91 Theo will run full speed no matter what. Theo and Giroud played way too much last season, between Milan and France NT and the lack of adequate back ups at Milan.
Our first 10 games are difficult and the derby with inter at the 4th one will mean much more than 3 points. If we lose with Inter playing as in the past year…. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Let’s hope.
nahhhhhhhhh. i think theo just told by coach to play safe to avoid injury, since we dont have backup LB yet
Exactly just because someone post something doesn’t mean its true. I watch the matches… He looked good. Movement wise and off the ball play was good. Who gives 100% in friendlies
This squad is very good indeed ,but it takes time to gel together…We are a completely different team than last season and in my opinion a better one .
Thea Hernandez will be back to his best soon as will Olivier Giroud make no mistake about that ..
A player who has looked good is Rafeol leao but even he is not yet at his best ,.simple reason is he is playing in a virtual new team …it will take time for these
players to adapt to the system that poili wants .
I am not sure what the best formation will be.
Make no mistake about it we will come good hopefully at the start of the new season ,that’s when it really matters . We can challenge for honours again this season .I am fed up with all the negativity from some of you .We are AC Milan .
Just look back two seasons ago we won the scuddeto..
Last season in the semi final of the champions leauge .The squad we have now is better .please remain optimistic..
💯 He was dragging… Definitely not in peak form yet. He did do so shopping in Vegas though – maybe that’s what wore him out against Barca?
It’s early August, player conditioning will improve. The question I’m more concerned with is who is going to be the midfielders in the starting 11 and is Okafor the only attacker we’re bringing in? We lost Zlatan and Prigi somewhere between last summer and now. Is Colombo the rotation player for Giroud? I really hope Okafor is to be used as a tactical alternative, not as Girouds substitute…
