CorSera: Incoming Milan owner Cardinale sent a message to the squad

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s incoming owner Gerry Cardinale sent a message to the squad ahead of their first game of the season today, according to a report.

Milan will begin their title defence with a game against Udinese at San Siro this evening, looking to repeat the success of last season when the team upset the odds to earn a first Scudetto in 11 years.

According to reports from Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), Gerry Cardinale – the future owner of AC Milan – sent a message of encouragement back on Thursday to the Rossoneri team in view of the start of the new season.

The full closing of the takeover between Elliott Management and Cardinale’s fund RedBird Capital will take place between the end of August and the beginning of September, and then we can probably expect to hear and see more from Cardinale after already declaring back in June that he ‘hates losing’.

    1. Like money is a guarantee of anything. You don’t have to go far back in history to see what 250M€ brought. Loooots of trophies and UCL seasons, right?

  1. I know the takeover hasn’t happened yet so can’t jump to conclusions but fingers crossed he’s a man of his word and is prepared to spend for success, rather than becoming the next Glazers aiming for maximum profits.

Can’t say for sure with this window many saying the €50mn budget was “Elliots last” rather than “RedBirds first”. Will see if we have an injury crisis or chance to do well in UCL, whether M&M get a decent xmas budget to work with

    1. It won’t get better under Redbird – spending. They are 800M in debt to Elliot and will operate under the same model. Elliot remain 30% owners. Unfortunately Nothing will change my friend.
