CorSera: Leao decisive against Lecce as Milan resume mission worth €50m+

AC Milan must put their full focus on Serie A while waiting for the Champions League semi-final against Inter next month, and they managed to get an important win last night against Lecce.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how Rafael Leao once again decided the match for the Rossoneri. After last Tuesday’s performance in the Champions League against Napoli, the Portuguese winger did it again against the Apulian side, scoring twice and single-handedly earning the win.

The first goal came via the ‘unusual’ method of a header, while the second was a very typical goal by his standards as he got possession on the halfway line and dribbled for nearly 50 metres, finishing with a perfect diagonal left-footed shot.

Many are already thinking of the Euroderby, but it is also fundamental to secure a top four finish in the league because of the €50m+ in revenues that the Champions League guarantees as a minimum.

On Saturday the Diavolo will play Roma, and that is a huge clash in the battle for the top European club competition, as Pioli knows.

“We have to think only about that match, the direct clashes will be decisive, the Champions League dream exists but we’ll get to that in a few weeks,” he said.
