CorSera: Maldini and Massara await go-ahead for mercato – €40m man targeted

By Isak Möller -

Despite the takeover talks, which have put many things on hold, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are still scanning the market for talents. One of the players on the list is Charles De Ketelaere, but he’s not cheap.

RedBird Capital, the American-owned firm, are expected to close the takeover of the Rossoneri next week. The complete closing could take place in September, but everything points towards a happy resolution to the negotiations.

And with that, Maldini and Massara might soon be ‘unleashed’ on the market. As stated by Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), RedBird owner Gerry Cardinale will meet Maldini to discuss the mercato and that could open up things.

One of the players on their radar is the 21-year-old Charles De Ketelaere, who plays as an attacking midfielder for Club Brugge. He already has Champions League experience and he would increase the quality of the Rossoneri. However, he has a hefty price tag of €40m.

  1. If we had failed to get Szoboslai, we shouldn’t fail this too. This guy is the future. The new KAKA!❤🖤

    1. maybe in terms of schoolboy looks he might be the new Kaka. But I mean they are such different players, Charles doen’t have the pace that made Kaka so unplayable. He is more like Havertz, good feet, ability to go in the box and score goals, Kaka is so different, more like Leao in best form, so maybe we already have the ‘new Kaka’

  2. Unfortunately 40M is not a lot of $$ in todays transfer market. Especially for a talent like De Ketelare. I doubt we spend the $ to get him tho. Perhaps Lang for half that price seems more realistic.
