CorSera: Mercato affairs on hold as Maldini and Massara await ownership change

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan could have new owners for next season as Elliott Management are in advanced talks with RedBird Capital. A potentially positive change, but it has inevitably put a halt to the current mercato affairs.

Given the timing of the negotiations, with the transfer window upon us, it’s not exactly strange that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara cannot work at full capacity. In fact, everything has been brought to a halt currently.

According to Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), the directors are waiting for indications on the future and that should arrive soon. Fikayo Tomori’s agent, for example, wants to know what the project will be under RedBird before committing to a renewal.

There’s not much Maldini and Massara can do but wait as Elliott close the negotiations with RedBird. Gerry Cardinale, the owner of RedBird, is expected in Milan in the coming days and he has scheduled a meeting with Maldini.
