Lille's Canadian forward #09 Jonathan David

CorSera: Milan hoping to use ‘excellent relations’ with Lille to get 26-goal striker

Jonathan David is back on AC Milan’s radar. Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada are planning for the future and one of their priorities is to sign a striker, with the Canadian international high up on their wish list.

Olivier Giroud may have saved Milan at the weekend, and a contract renewal is on the cards, but the Rossoneri still need a striker for the future. Lille striker David is one of the primary targets, as reported by Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews).

The 23-year-old has been on their radar for several years now and last season, he managed to score 26 goals across all competitions. This season, he has four so far and his contract will expire in 2025.

As per the newspaper, Milan are hoping to use their ‘excellent relations’ with Lille to secure David, just like they did with Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan. Next summer, the French side will either have to sell him or renew, which could lower the price tag slightly.

Having said that, it won’t be an easy operation for the Rossoneri and it most definitely will not be a cheap one.

  1. If they can get him this team will be dangerous! Giroud unfortunately is more of a Veteran Locker room presence than a player at this point in his career

        1. Yes the useless 37yo Giroud got called up to the national team to be useless there not just at Milan.
He is so useless that Milan will probably extend his contract for another season..
          I love couch coaches

          1. 3 penalty goals… stats don’t tell the whole story. National teams call up Veteran players all the time. If you’re going to have a response, at least do your best to be competent

          2. i need to be competent about it? Pi$$ 0ff mate. You’re on here cyring about Giroud while Milan sits first after 8 games.
Does he need to managed? Sure.
Is he usless and needs to be benched and then shunned out of the club in the summer? Nope.
But hey, you can go to Milan, show Pioli your skillz and who knows. We might end up with a 31yo bomber

          3. Lol someone gets rattled easy. He’s not an everyday player. It’s evident. Slow, poor first touch and is over the hill. Great veteran presence but shouldn’t be our number one option at striker. Facts over feelings

        2. 4 goals and 3 assists in serie a and still gets called up to the french international team but sure you know better mr oracle.

          1. I’m not sure why you guys are all on Tippy’s case. He isn’t wrong. While Giroud has done well considering his age, he isn’t our future 9, and likely only has one more season in him. He was always supposed to be a rotational figure for us. Unfortunately since we didn’t sign a better/younger 9, he has had to work overtime but you can clearly tell he has regressed.

His first touches and flicks are often poor. He lacks the speed to offer anything in counter attacks and generally doesn’t have the legs for our entire 90 much less the busy schedule we have.

His stats are deceptive because of the PK’s he has taken. So what is he really offering us? Hold Up play? Not really…. An anchor in the box…. OK but without shooting boots on? Contributions in the build up? Hadn’t seen many of those…

He’s helped us over the years – sure, but it’s time to move the burden of the 9 to a better, younger player.

          2. I didnt say he should stay our primary striker next season but he still has something to offer this squad next season as well if he accepts a reduced role andf as i also said he has contributed with 3 assists this season which is just as good as goals as the outcome is the same.

  2. Giroud is holding Milan bsck, 4 goals, 3 of those where penalty, the assist shows Giroud can’t run , thus he gives it to someone who can run. Giroud is done !!!

        1. Ive watched every single match but i didnt necessarily say he should be a starter in the long run but he certainly still offers the squad something regardless whether you guys want to aknowledge it.

          1. My exact words were “ he’s more of a veteran locker room presence at this point”. And anyone who has watched a match has seen it.

      1. bro ignore those kids , stats don’t lie and it show how much important he is and we should renew him and get another striker in summer , i don’t like franch people in general and if someone like me can like Giroud it mean he is doing really well at my milan

        1. Yeah you prpably right as i tend to think its teenagers who think the world belongs to them and that young is always good. I do akowledge though that we should get a marquee signing as well for the striker position as you suggest.

          1. I’m 31 and youth kind of matters as you have a striker who can’t score other than penalties right now because he is too slow to be relevant. But, Ignorance is bliss I suppose

          2. youth can be good and ive never opposed a youth project BUT experience is also paramount in a squad and always was in our wining squads who were far older than the current squad.
Even the ajax team of the 90ies had also aging players even though they was generally a young squad.
Anyways as ive already said it doesnt really matter if he scores as long as he assists as thats the same outcome. As i also said even if we doesnt count the penalty goals he has still scored 1 goal and assisted 3 so thats four goals on his account in 7 matches. But he nevertheless has seven goal contributions in 7 matches that isnt even 7 full serie a matches

        2. Stats are blatantly misleading and the fact that you don’t understand that shows you either have the IQ of a 7 year old or just have never played a sport in your life.

  3. Costacurta also questioned Milan renewal of Giroud contract, by your own he is also a kid. I am surprised how Milan fans are so fond of mediocre players !!!

    1. Giroud is a great leader and great locker room presence. He’s no longer the great player he was. Anyone with eyes can see that.
