CorSera: Milan have eyes on Berardi but €30m demand of Sassuolo is off-putting

By Isak Möller -

One of the areas that Milan want to replace ahead of next season is the right-wing, where Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers have failed to impress. Domenico Berardi remains an option, a report claims.

The Sassuolo captain has bagged 14 goals and 14 assists this season, which is quite the contrast to Milan’s wingers who have scored 7 goals combined. There is little doubt about Berardi’s qualities, in other words, but the same cannot be said about the price tag.

According to Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri have eyes on the Italian international but, at the same time, they have no intention of paying €30m. This is what Sassuolo are asking for to part ways with the player this summer.

Unless the demand is lowered, therefore, a move to Milan is very unlikely for Berardi. Sassuolo might be forced to revise the price tag as few clubs can pay €30m this summer, at least if it’s an outright deal and not a loan formula.

  1. Guarantees at least 10 goals and assists per season. On a good season it’s 20+20. THIS is what we need. Not a 1+1 Bernardeschi.

  2. Italian players are just too expensive. Everyone puts a premium on those alleged superstars who can’t hit an open goal from the penalty spot in a do or die game with the World Cup qualification on the line. Guys like Berardi and Belotti probably will never hit it really big b/c their clubs put insane price tags on them and when their contract expires they are just too old. And going to another league also isn’t in the cards.
And then people wonder why Italy fails to qualify again.

    1. Agreed. That’s why Maldini, Masara, and Moncada focused on recruiting non-Italian players. Not just they have more reasonable price but their quality usually are better than Italian players.

Just look at Kalulu, Mike, Leao, Bennacer, Tomori, Theo, Rebic, Giroud, Kessie, or Kjaer. I can’t imagine what’s Milan position right now if those players didn’t play for Milan.

Not saying all Italian players are overpriced and mediocre or non-Italian players are all top notch quality. But clearly the situation favors non-Italian players right now, especially after Italy didn’t qualified for World Cup again.

  3. He is already in comfort zone ,i don’t think he want to leave his comfort zone in sassoulo. It is wasted time negotiate with sassoulo , trust me he will go free transfer because no club’ want to pay that much to sassoulo
