CorSera: Milan schedule crucial meeting with agent of star midfielder as Man Utd rumours swirl

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are set for a crucial meeting with the agent of Hakan Calhanoglu to try and establish if there is any chance of obtaining his renewal, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by il Corriere della Sera this morning (via MilanLive), there is still a sizeable gap between what the player and his entourage are asking for and what the Milan management are willing to offer.

Paolo Maldini’s latest terms are an increase in salary from €2.5m net per season to €3.5m, while Calhanoglu’s agent Gordon Stipic wants €5-6m. Therefore, it will not be easy to find a meeting point, even if the player wants to stay.

The paper adds that Stipic is expected in Italy before Christmas and that while there are constant contacts between the parties, a face-to-face meeting is always ideal to try to unlock these difficult operations.

Milan still hope to be able to find an agreement, because losing a player like Calhanoglu on a free transfer would not reflect well on the club. Maldini and Frederic Massara intend to do everything possible, but Calhanoglu and his agent must bring their demands down too.

In our exclusive interview with Christian Falk, the Bild journalist revealed that there is a ‘90% chance’ that Calhanoglu joins Premier League giants Manchester Untied on a free transfer.
