CorSera: Milan to continue paying part of defender’s wages despite €15m exit agreement

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will continue to pay part of Mattia Caldara’s wages, a report claims, with the centre-back expected to complete a move to Atalanta imminently.

A number of different outlets are reporting that Caldara’s return to Bergamo is all but complete. Calciomercato.com even went one further by claiming that the 25-year-old will undergo a medical with Atalanta on Friday before signing on an 18-month loan deal with option to buy.

According to il Corriere della Sera – as cited by MilanNews.it – everything is now agreed for Caldara’s return to La Dea. He will join Atalanta on the basis of an 18-month loan with option to buy set at €15m.

The paper interestingly adds though that the Rossoneri will have a percentage of the future resale, but they will also have to contribute to the payment of part of his salary (at Milan he earned €2.2m-a-year). What percentage this is, however, remains unmentioned.
