CorSera: Milan will welcome back four key players for the derby against Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is optimistic that he will have several key players back for the derby against Inter on Sunday, a report claims.

Head coach Stefano Pioli was forced into a number of changes for Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Hellas Verona with five players ruled out, and the absences were felt on the pitch.

Andrea Conti missed out through tonsillitis and was replaced by Davide Calabria, while Simon Kjaer was ruled out with flu meaning Mateo Musacchio came back in.

Ismael Bennacer’s suspension and Rade Krunic’s knock gave Hakan Calhanoglu the chance to play in central midfield alongside Franck Kessie with Giacomo Bonaventura on the left. Zlatan Ibrahimovic – also struggling with flu – was replaced by Ante Rebic.

According to il Corriere della Sera – as cited by MilanNews.it – Pioli should have four key men back for the big game against Inter on Sunday evening.

Bennacer will return from suspension, while Kjaer will also be available. Conti is expected to recover from tonsillitis, and arguably the most important return will be that of Ibrahimovic.
