CorSera: Pioli relies on Giroud in Florence – he wants to end his Milan career the right way

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli will once again rely on Olivier Giroud to lead the line tonight when AC Milan take on Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, and he is looking to end a run of league games without a goal.

As Corriere della Sera (via PianetaMilan) report this morning, it will be a special match for Fiorentina, their first since the passing of Joe Barone. However, it will also be a game in which Pioli’s side aim to consolidate second place further.

There is money at stake and the possibility of putting a trophy on the board in this season finale for Milan, and tonight the head coach will lean on Giroud in attack, a man who will leave the club at the end of the season and head to Los Angeles FC.

The French striker will indeed head for Major League Soccer and will sign an 18-month contract with LAFC, valid until December 31st 2025. He will leave Milan after three years full of goals and with a Scudetto won in 2022 .

Giroud, meanwhile, wants to end his time at the club with a bang. He hasn’t scored in the league for 4 games (the last time being Monza-Milan 4-2 on 18 February) so he will aim to end that drought too.
