CorSera: The positives and negatives of Leao’s performance vs. Lecce

By Oliver Fisher -

It was a mixed evening for Rafael Leao at San Siro on Sunday in AC Milan’s 2-2 draw against struggling Lecce.

The Rossoneri twice took the lead: firstly through Hakan Calhanoglu’s half-volley and then through Krzysztof Piatek’s 81st minute goal.

However, Milan were twice pegged back in Stefano Pioli’s first game in charge; Khouma Babacar scoring a rebound after Gianluigi Donnarumma had saved his penalty before Marco Calderoni’s screamer in added time stole a point.

Among those who could be held responsible for Milan not killing the game off was Rafael Leao, as the Portugal U21 international missed a number of chances that his team-mates provided.

According to il Corriere della Sera on Monday – as cited by MilanNews.it – the young striker was good at moving in spaces, however he must be more clinical in front of the goal.

He twice hit the side netting from good positions inside the area, chances he must start taking if he is to keep Piatek out of the side.
