CorSera: Three reasons why Milan and Inter could build new stadium elsewhere

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are working hard to get their stadium project to the next stage but the politics in Italy continue to make things difficult. Therefore, the management is also evaluating alternative areas for the project.

In the last few months, areas such as Segrate, San Donato and Sesto San Giovanni have been mentioned as options for Milan and Inter. The latter area has now appeared again in the media as a concrete option for the clubs.

As stated by Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews) this plan B could soon turn into plan A for various reasons. It would cut the costs of the project since they wouldn’t have to demolish San Siro, estimated at €150m. Furthermore, they would own the area themselves, which is a big bonus.

The area is well-connected with the Milan metro and that means transportation to and from games is very feasible for the fans. Most likely, the final decision will be made by the new owners (almost done) Investcorp, but they are likely to follow Elliott’s path.
