CorSport: Calm, meticulous and improving – Milan have found the perfect man in Pioli

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have found something special with Stefano Pioli despite the initial scepticism about his appointment, and a Scudetto would be a fitting achievement for a fantastic journey.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports how Pioli has the second-highest points per game of any manager in the history of Milan. Fabio Capello is in the lead, while Nereo Rocco, Arrigo Sacchi, Carlo Ancelotti and Max Allegri are all behind Pioli.

During his time at the club, the former Fiorentina and Lazio boss has improved his average points per game more and more from 1.84 in 2019-20, then 2.08 last season and this year he is at 2.22 points per game.

Pioli always prepares for games with great attention but above all he manages to get the right reactions out of each of his players, so much so that many players have improved greatly in terms of consistency and quality, such as Davide Calabria’s newfound confidence, Franck Kessie’s dominant performances, plus Leao and Tonali this season.

Pioli is always a calm man. He could have made his voice heard after the very controversial referees decisions against Milan, but instead he chose to use it as an internal motivation to keep working on the relationship with his players and the tactical approach to each game. In short, Milan have found the right man.
