CorSport: De Ketelaere could start vs. Atalanta but not as the playmaker

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli is thinking of shuffling the pack in view of the match against Atalanta on Sunday night which could be good news for Charles De Ketelaere.

One of the players less on the ball in the opening match against Udinese was Junior Messias, which is why the coach could choose a different option according to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), who launch the idea that De Ketelaere could start in Bergamo.

However, he could be on the right instead of the trequartista position. Pioli is unlikely to bench Brahim Diaz after his performance against Udinese, so it is easier to imagine a trio of Rafael Leao, Brahim Diaz and De Ketelaere behind Olivier Giroud, even if dropping Ante Rebic will be hard too.

The Belgian playing on the right would demonstrate the versatility that Pioli knew that he could bring when he arrived at the club in a deal worth €35m including bonuses from Club Brugge.

  1. Adli is our player.
    CDK is our player.
Diaz is NOT or player long term. He will end up in Real.
I really hope that Pioli long term try to implement those to in the starting 11 rather than Diaz

    1. Its only a matter of time before Brahim’s play takes a nose dive. He started off hot last season too. Got sick and was never the same. CDK and Adli are the future.

    2. Currently Diaz IS an AC Milan player and as a fans you need to support and respect him.

Not to mention the guy just scored a goal and assist for Rebic that help Milan won against Udinese, but you talk shit about him makes no sense at all.

  2. why u wish for bad and until brahim is playing for us and helping we should be good with him pioli will give adli and cdk time

  3. YESSSSS! START CDK AT RW!!!! Please please please Pioli keep Messias and Saele ON THE BENCH! Great decision.

As for Brahim, let’s not get so negative and assume he will play worse again like last year. He clearly worked in the offseason on his strength. That was his biggest problem last year — he would go to ground so easily if a defender barely touched him. He was so weak; but he hit the gym, did strength training and it showed v Udinese. I think he will stay solid all year long this year. We will have depth there. Not sure how much Adli will play; but we have a packed schedule, so I’m sure Pioli will find a way to get him minutes.

    1. Brahim’s weakness is not strength, its his decision making. He dribbles when he should pass. That’s all he has to change and in game 1 he seems to have improved on that part. Tho I would prefer Adli to play instead of Brahim who wants to play for RM, but with that form continuing, its gonna be hard to replace him. The question is, can he be consistent?

  4. Why you all like fortune teller and foresight future of brahim? How you know Real madrid have buy back? Even if they had, how you all sure Real Madrid want to use that buy back cost 30m euro ? Buy back have deadline too, can only be used on one transfer window not forever. For me personally i only want AC Milan win , either brahim or adili start i dont care. Pioli see on training which one are ready to start not all commentator here that dont even buy original jersey AC Milan

    1. Its not that others are fortunetellers, you just dont know about the buyback clause mate. Real does have the buy back option in the loan contract. Which means, at the end of the loan, if Brahim turns out to be the next messi, we can exercise the option to buy for sure but real can buy him back from us so we are gonna make some profit but RM gets the player.

      1. We all know he won’t turn out to be the next messi and RM has already far better options for his position. And will get better ones too instead of actually giving Diaz a chance.

  5. Start with the same team you used against Udinese, only tinker with your 11 for form or tactical purposes ….trust me before the season runs halfway quality and consistency will sort everyone out in their places.
