CorSport: Defensive crisis forces Atalanta to formation change for Milan clash

While Stefano Pioli is experiencing one of the calmest moments injury-wise this season, the same cannot be said for Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini. In fact, he could be forced to switch formations.

Milan will take on Atalanta this Sunday at 18:00 CEST and it’s a crucial game in the Scudetto race, with it being the penultimate clash. The Rossoneri are two points ahead of Inter and thus need four points from the remaining two games.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, as cited by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Gasperini could be forced to a formation change as Rafael Toloi and Giuseppe Pezzella will miss out on the clash. In fact, he could play with four men at the back instead of three.

Merih Demiral and Berat Djimsiti should start in the centre, with Davide Zappacosta and Joakim Maehle completing the back four. Gasperini obviously prefers to field a three-man backline but injuries make life difficult, as Milan know very well from experience.
