CorSport: Fears at Milanello that Ibrahimovic’s season could be over as scan results are awaited

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are impatiently awaiting the results of a scan that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have on his knee injury today, a report claims.

Ibrahimovic limped off in the second half of Milan’s 3-0 win over Juventus after seemingly landing awkwardly following an aerial duel. He tried to play on just as he did when he damaged his muscle in Napoli before coming off for Rebic not long after.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes that the preliminary checks yesterday seem to have ruled that it is something serious, however only the MRI today will clarify everything. At Milanello there is concern because Ibrahimovic’s left knee is swollen and the dynamics of the injury do not make us rest easy.

The Swede will certainly not be available on Wednesday against Torino and most likely not even on Sunday against Cagliari, so the hope is to be able to get him back on the last day against Atalanta but it will all depend on the outcome of today’s check.

The deputy Ibra is Mario Mandzukic, but the problem is that so far the Croatian has never managed to put in a convincing performance which is why one of Ante Rebic or Rafael Leao could play in his place.
