CorSport: How Milan are expected to line up against Salernitana

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will play their final match before Christmas on Friday night at the Arechi against Salernitana, and this morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport has named the probable line-up.

The paper (via PianetaMilan) begins by talking about the return of captain Davide Calabria, who served his suspension in Milan-Monza and should take his right-back spot from Alessandro Florenzi. Mike Maignan, Simon Kjær, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernández complete the rearguard.

In midfield, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders seem certain of a spot given Tommaso Pobega’s injury and the fact Yacine Adli and Rade Krunic appear to be out of favour again. Ismaël Bennacer should join up with them, with Yunus Musah expected to miss the game.

Up front, Noah Okafor is also unavailable due to injury, so it will likely be the first choice trio of Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leão to start, with Samuel Chukwueze and Luka Jović ready to come off the bench.

Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Kjær, Tomori, Theo Hernández; Loftus-Cheek, Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, R. Leão.

Bench: Sportiello, Mirante, Bartesaghi, Florenzi, Pellegrino, Simic, Adli, Krunic, Zeroli, Chukwueze, Romero, Chaka Traorè, Jović. Coach : Pioli.

  1. Very likely Jovic coming in on second half as well as chuxk. Wonder if Adli and simic will come in as subs too. If we’re up by more than 2 id bring in Romero

    1. I am guessing Florenzi is being saved to come into the midfield as RLC and Benecar are not 90-minute fit. Likely hoping the team will be leading by then.

  2. CURRENT WOULD YOUNGSTARS OUTSIDE EUROPE

Endrik, Estevao, Victor roque, paez, Jurado,Monslave

    Endrik – Real
    Jurado – Barca
    Victor roque – Barcelona
    Estevao – Chelsea
    Paez – Chelsea
    Nascimento – Nottingham forest
    Monslave -??

Please Please Please. Let’s run and bring “””CLAUDIO ECHEVERRI””” OR “” “MIGUEL MONSLAVE”””

Let’s run and bring these young stars before they are all taken please.

All we know is just bringing dumped rubbish from Chelsea all the time.

  3. I quite liked the 3-4-3 we played against Monza. I’d love to see that again against Salernitana. We looked and played really well.

    1. It worked well because they pressed with 4 and the 3-2 set up does a great job breaking that down. From what I can tell, Salernitana sometimes press 3 and base their triggers off different events. so it may be worth pushing the extra man up the field to keep them spread out. Sometimes it seems that press doesn’t even take place until they are as bunkered as they can get…Atalanta’s goals against them came from getting 2 turnovers upfield with the press and a corner. When they are set, its hard to work your way through.
