CorSport: Ibrahimovic blasts Gazidis – “It is no longer Milan like it used to be”

By Oliver Fisher -

All the newspapers today confirm that yesterday at Milanello there was a heated confrontation between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and CEO Ivan Gazidis.

As Thursday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport notes (via MilanLive), other players also spoke to Gazidis after his speech to the squad on Wednesday, but the Swede was the one who did it with the harshest tones.

The paper states Ibrahimovic turned on Gazidis, asking: “Why have you been absent so long, and you show up to 48 hours before a match?”

The South African was present for the first time at Milanello since training resumed. He promised to be there more.

Zlatan would also have added the following: “It is no longer Milan like it used to be, there is too much uncertainty.”

Gazidis replied: “Yes it is true, it is no longer the Milan of the past for success and the economic situation.” He then explained that Elliott’s plan aims to revive the club, but with a gradual path that will not be easy. He guaranteed the solidity and seriousness of American ownership.

Gazidis did manage to calm Ibrahimovic, however the chances of the centre-forward remaining appear further away than ever. The player, according to what was leaked, does not seem to believe too much in Milan’s future plans.
