Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is interested in the idea of signing AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, according to a report.
It was reported by Diario AS earlier in the month that Simeone has asked club chiefs to probe the market for a number nine, and a list of four possible targets has been drawn up, one of which is Piatek.
The Rossoneri forward has struggled since taking the No.9 shirt in the summer, amassing just one goal from open play in 15 games so far this season, though he did net in Milan’s win over Bologna on Sunday.
According to il Corriere dello Sport – as cited by Calciomercato.com – Piatek is indeed on Atletico’s list ahead of the January window as Simeone wants to find the long-term replacement for the ageing Diego Costa.
Meanwhile, Calciomercato.it recently reported that the Poland international currently has a valuation of around €25-30million, and that the LaLiga side may attempt a swap deal to avoid such an outlay.
