Report: Atletico Madrid keen on €35m Milan star amid Chelsea links

AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek is one of four players that Atletico Madrid are considering to reinforce their attack, a report claims.

The Poland international has not enjoyed a good start to the season, having scored just once from open play in the first 14 rounds of Serie A action.

Meanwhile, Milan continue to search for a new striker with reports suggesting Zlatan Ibrahimovic is closing in on a return. Tuesday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it) suggested that if the Swede does arrive, Piatek could be forced out.

According to Diario AS, Diego Simeone has asked Atletico Madrid chiefs to probe the market for a number nine, and a list of four possible targets has been drawn up.

Valencia’s Rodrigo is Simeone’s preferred option, the report claims, however his signing would be very complicated.

As a result, Los Rojiblancos may turn to PSG’s Edinson Cavani – a player recently linked with Milan – as he is not playing much currently and his deal expires next June.

The report goes on to mention though that Piatek is a profile appreciated by Simeone, and it is possible that the LaLiga side could ask for a loan until the end of the season.

His €35m price tag is mentioned, and the same figure is apparently what it would cost to sign Andrea Belotti from Torino, the last name on the list.

It is worth noting that Mediaset recently mentioned that Chelsea and Everton are the most likely destinations for Piatek.
