He did not travel with the squad to Bergamo on Friday, meaning Stefano Pioli wants to give him the best chance possible to be fit for the Champions League clash against Newcastle on Wednesday night.
With four different centre-backs out injured right now, Pioli is going to have to use Hernandez as a centre-back like he did in the win over Frosinone last weekend.
The Frenchman impressed alongside Fikayo Tomori and it will be highly beneficial to Milan if he can settle into that role whilst other defenders try to get fit.
