CorSport: Maldini could stay at Milan but his powers would be reduced – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

Director Paolo Maldini could stay at AC Milan beyond the summer but his powers would be greatly reduced, according to a report.

Multiple outlets believe Milan are heading towards another revolution this summer led by CEO Ivan Gazidis, who wants to remove Zvonimir Boban after his revealing interview and bring in Ralf Rangnick to become head coach and sporting director.

As a result, there has been intense speculation that Maldini could leave the Rossoneri too just one year into his role as technical director in order to show loyalty to Boban, but also because of a potential lack of compatibility with Rangnick’s project.

According to newspaper il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) though, Maldini’s future at Milan is still to be written. They claim that there is the possibility that the former captain could stay at Milan also into next season.

In this case though his powers would be very limited, given that Gazidis intends to entrust them to others, and for this reason Maldini himself is reflecting on what his role will be.
