CorSport: Milan boss Pioli will welcome back three stars ahead of derby vs. Inter

By Oliver Fisher -

After the transfer window closed at 20:00 CEST on Monday, attention now turns towards the derby after the international break.

The game on October 17th will make mouths water as Milan put their perfect start to the 2020-21 season on the line as well as their unbeaten run in Serie A against their toughest opponent yet.

Tuesday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive) gives positive news for Stefano Pioli. It seems that the Milan coach will be able to call upon three very important players for the clash at San Siro.

First of all there is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who in two weeks should be back after having tested positive for Coronavirus. The Swede is fine, he spent his birthday in quarantine but keeps fit individually, ready to receive the ok to return to training at Milanello.

A full recovery is also in sight for Alessio Romagnoli. The Milan captain is still in the pits due to a calf injury, but the damage now seems to have almost completely recovered. He will fight hard to be there against Inter.

There are doubts, but also optimism, regarding the return of Ante Rebic too. The Croatian has to overcome the dislocation in his elbow but if the next checks are positive he could have the green light in view of the resumption of the season.

Those who will certainly miss Inter-Milan will be the long-term absentees Musacchio and Conti, still far from the right physical condition.
