Rafael Leao had a new MRI scan yesterday on his thigh muscle problem, giving AC Milan further clarity on how to approach the upcoming games.
This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recall that Leao limped off in the opening stages of the 2-2 draw against Lecce last month and checks showed a first degree injury to the biceps femoris of his right thigh.
So far, Leao has missed matches against Fiorentina , Borussia Dortmund and Frosinone across Serie A and the Champions League. The last time he missed four in a row due to injury was exactly two years ago, in December 2021, and he risks repeating that.
Leao’s injury has healed and he feels good, but the expectation is that he will not return until the game against Newcastle United in the Champions League scheduled for Wednesday 13 December. For this Saturday’s away league game at Atalanta , the impression is that it is better not to take any risks.
Stefano Pioli will welcome Olivier Giroud’s return to the starting line-up after serving his two-match suspension in the league. However, with Noah Okafor still out it will be up to Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze to work overtime on the flanks.
