CorSport: Milan will not stop after Leao with Maignan renewal targeted – the plan

By Oliver Fisher -

The work on renewals will not stop after Rafael Leao’s extension is announced as the AC Milan management also want to secure the long-term future of Mike Maignan.

That is according to this morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), who write that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will soon get to work on trying to agree new terms with Maignan.

The French goalkeeper is one of the most important squad members, and in his first two years with the Rossoneri he showed himself to be one of the best in the world in his position.

Having arrived in the summer of 2021, the former Lille man receives a salary of €2m net per season and is under contract until 2026. The Rossoneri’s aim is to extend that deadline and give him a pay rise, to send a message to any interested clubs abroad.

It would be another important move by the directors, who have secured the renewals of Theo Hernandez, Gabbia, Pobega, Tomori, Krunic, Tonali, Kalulu, Bennacer, Giroud and Pioli since the start of last year.
