CorSport: Milan optimistic that key midfielder will recover for Atalanta game

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli was without reliable midfield maestro Sandro Tonali for the first game of the season against Udinese, but that’s the only game he should miss.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) report this morning that Tonali missed the game against Andrea Sottil’s Udinese due to a slight problem with his flexor which he sustained in the final preseason win over Vicenza.

However, the Italy international has every intention of being part of the team that will leave for Bergamo to face Atalanta on Sunday as the Rossoneri look to build on their entertaining 4-2 victory against the Friulians.

Tonali did more individual work yesterday and it is not excluded that he may also start from the first minute at the Gewiss Stadium, where he scored last season in a 3-2 win.

More indications should arrive from the training sessions that take place this week, though the ex-Brescia man will obviously not be risked if not ready.
