CorSport: Milan ready for crucial meeting with Calhanoglu’s agent – the latest figures

By Oliver Fisher -

There will be a crucial meeting with the agent of Hakan Calhanoglu in the next 48 hours to discuss his renewal, a report claims.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive) confirms that there will be a meeting either today or tomorrow with Gordon Stipic at Casa Milan to try to find an agreement on the contractual extension of Calhanoglu.

The Rossoneri management – of course led by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara – are hoping to be able to unblock a negotiation that has been going on for too long. The latest offer was €4m net per season plus €500k in bonuses, which represents a significant offer considering that the No.10 currently earns €2.5m per year.

The fact that it is not considered sufficient to sign the new contract leaves the club a bit stunned, especially because Stipic started by asking for €6m net per season, then his position softened but there is still a gap between demand (€5-5.5m) and the offer.

In the next few hours, the German agent will be in Milan to speak with Maldini and Massara and the hope is that the white smoke arrives soon, because Calhanoglu is an important piece of Stefano Pioli’s team and there is a desire to resolve his future.

Losing such a key man for free is not an option, but as a result the club will find itself guaranteeing a salary higher than what it originally budgeted.
