CorSport: Milan’s season finale poses difficult challenges but defence shines

By Isak Möller -

Just seven games remain of the season and AC Milan are currently in first place in the Serie A standings, but only with a one-point advantage. The Scudetto race has been far from decided, therefore, and it will be a dramatic finale.

The Rossoneri only managed a draw at home against Bologna on Monday evening and the disappointment has been felt afterwards. A strong performance will thus be needed against Torino tomorrow, and most importantly they need the three points.

Corriere Dello Sport highlights (via MilanNews) that the disappointment was indeed evident after the Bologna draw. After a month of 1-0 wins, beating the likes of Napoli, Empoli and Cagliari, the start of April didn’t follow the pattern.

On the plus side, though, the Rossoneri defence has proved to be incredibly strong as zero goals have been conceded in five consecutive games (including Coppa Italia draw vs. Inter). At the back, therefore, there is great confidence.

Milan have perhaps the toughest schedule among the Scudetto contenders, per the newspaper, as they will face these teams after Torino: Genoa at home, Lazio away, Fiorentina at home, Verona away, Atalanta at home and finally Sassuolo away.

Stefano Pioli has always made it clear, however, that his players will take it one game at a time.
