CorSport: Milan want to send strong and clear signal with Maignan renewal

The AC Milan management are not just thinking of signings and sales in the summer months but also renewals, with Mike Maignan’s name at the top of the list.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan), the new-look management are thinking about extending Maignan’s current deal – which expires in June 2026 – for another two seasons and with a pay rise too.

It is a ‘strong and clear signal’ from Milan who, a month ago, sold a key name in the squad in Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United. There won’t be any more big exits this summer and once the window is over, talks will be held with Maignan and his agents.

The Frenchman is the only key man who has not yet renewed his agreement since his arrival from Lille for a bargain €15m including bonuses. His hand in the Scudetto and last season’s Champions League run have not gone unnoticed.

It is better to take precautions from Milan’s point of view because there are interested clubs around Europe given that Maignan is one of the goalkeepers around.

    1. A professional player is ready to play and négociateur with everybody Maldini absence it’s not excuse for him to not renewal if he love Milan and want to continue he will renew

    2. I would leave any comments judging Maldini and Redbird management till the end of the season. Our hope is to fo well. Maldini will find something more challenging and more paying so he will notbe in any problem. Redbird have to prove themselves not by selling and buying players but to get Milan what it desreves. The proof of the pudding is in the eating!

    3. This A$$ clown can’t move on lol. Pathetic. Keeps on bringing him up lol. Just admit it @Boulden you are @Pioli in disguise! Hahahaha!

Jury is still out lots of questions about the signings – none are guarantees – which is why we got them at discounted prices. Hopefully they all stay healthy (Pulisic, RLC) and can adapt (Reinjders) and develop (Romero) – but nothing is certain. We will see how the season plays out. Still lots more signings needed so I would save your gloating until after the season to see how we fare.

      1. “This A$$ clown can’t move on lol. Pathetic. Keeps on bringing him up lol. ”

Reminds me of someone who is the joke of this site. Pops up every once in a while to call people names and act superior to everyone. Loves donkeys, and has a 4-letter name. Loves to pick up fight with everyone even if they ignore him. Favorite words also include “embarrassing”, “pathetic”, “donkey”. Ring a bell? Another hint: nobody likes him. At all. 🙂

    4. technically Maignan hasn’t sign anything related to his renewal.. so yea, anything still possible to happen 😀

    1. Yeah because the people who commented everyday for 3 weeks straight that Milan is doomed because Maldini is gone deserve some slack huh?

Redbird is here to destroy everything and everyone should just prepare for whole squad to be sold and whatever other crap anyone can think of

and now we have people claiming they never panicked at all and they knew Milan will still go on as normal, so shameless, most of you are like teenagers arent you?

      1. because it hasn’t proven anything.
extending a player’s contract does not mean that the club will not sell the player in the near future.

also with the purchase of new players, not necessarily the results will match the wishes of the coach and scouting, it could also be better than last season.

I wish Milan all the best for sure, it’s my team.
hopefully this season they can surpass their last season achievements.
but the good/bad results will only be seen at the end of next season.

        1. You wish Milan the best, those people who were doomposting didnt they wanted Milan to fail so they can laugh about not keeping Maldini

at that point, do you support Milan or Maldini (dont mean you specifically)

  1. “Hey Mike,
We’ll up your contract and you’ll leave once Chelsea pass FFP”.
Then we’ll sign Matt Turner as replacement. Just trying to be realistic

maybe not this summer, but if Milan renewed Mike contract, Milan will have a greater selling point if they decided to cash in Mike to another club.
Lots of big clubs are in search of good goalkeeper right now

  3. Boulden synthesized very well the frame of mind of the inconsolable widows of Maldini, one of the most unbearable factions of the entire Doom & Gloom galaxy.

“Oh Heavens, without our patron saint we’re so fvcked, the board will sell all our stars, we won’t sign anyone anymore blah blah-blah”

Well, not necessary to say that it is obviously not what is happening.

  4. Hello AC Milan fan you should have moved on an aeon ago,you know, nothing is really bad with what actually happened this summer,if the Management were skilled enough to buy low and sell high inasmuch as the void left is adequately filled and you can always compare our situation to the game of chess where sometimes you sacrificed what seem important to you in other to gain an impossible advantage to checkmate. If you can remember vividly this was the mission of Barbara Berlusconi when Milan was going astray and imagine Schevchenko,Kaka,Zlantan,Silva were adequately replaced and their respective transfer fees were used judiciously to upgrade the team AC Milan won’t be in this mess in the first place.

And finally,am sorry to say this but Maldini is not seeing the bigger picture with the Management paintings and saving AC Milan can’t be done singularly but with concerted efforts with everyone working together to achieve the same mission,as they say the proverbial broom scattered around won’t sweep any dirt.
