CorSport: Milan will try to sell defensive outcast in January – the situation

By Isak Möller -

Mattia Caldara returned to AC Milan in the summer after his loan spell at Spezia and he’s yet to make an appearance for the Rossoneri. He’s recovering from an injury and could leave the club in January, a report claims.

As was confirmed by the club back in September, Caldara underwent surgery on his right ankle and is expected to be back at the end of November or early December. For the Rossoneri, he’s not expected to play a role, though.

According to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (see photo below), Milan will try to sell the former Atalanta man in January. It might not be that easy to find him a club, though, and the worst-case scenario is him staying until the summer and leaving for free.

His contract will expire at the end of the season and the clubs interested most likely have no problems waiting until the summer. Of course, given that Milan are desperate, they could give him away for nominal compensation in January.

  1. If Caldara leave, we will likely need to buy a new Italian player to fill his place as Italian Homegrown player. In the same window.

Idk, if we can get a good replacement for good price it’s possible bur if not, I can see him stay until June.

  2. Too bad promising careers can be ruined in an instant.

Defense could have looked something like this:

    Hernandez – Tomori – Caldara – Conti.
