CorSport: Milan win narrowly but Pulisic proves his reliability again

By Ben Dixon -

AC Milan recorded their 18th win of the Serie A season on Sunday, with an effective victory against Empoli. The scoreline was narrow, but there were plenty of positives from the game.

After arriving in the summer mercato, the expectations for Christian Pulisic were unclear, given Milan had also spent big on Samuel Chukwueze. However, the winger has quickly emerged as one of the Rossoneri’s key players and a point of reliability.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes, Sunday’s performance was another showing that fits this remark. Without Rafael Leao, the responsibility fell to Pulisic to lead the attack, and as has been the case so many times this season, he delivered, as the Rossoneri won 1-0.

The deciding goal from the game, scored by Pulisic, means that he has now reached 10 goals for the season across all competitions, and he continues to provide certainty in the attack for Pioli, where in the past, there have been concerns about the balance of frontline.

The American is firmly on track to have the best season of his career, which is impressive for his debut season with the Rossoneri, and given he is only 25 years old, he will keep improving and could cement his role in the side for years to come.

  1. Hopefully he stays fit.

As I said before the season starts, if he can stay fit he could be a big asset for us – and he delivered.

Best luck for you, CP11 !

    1. Very true. I think everyone here agreed he is really good, certainly an upgrade over whoever we had at RW; probably not as talented as Leao but more consistent. However, we all had reservations on his injury record. That is why we got it so “cheap”. I’m glad he had stayed healthy. Perhaps it’s a chelsea thing. Salah, Timo Werner, KDB even Lukaku had injuries at chelsea and were deemed injury prone and later have done ok somewher elese.

      1. Pulisic was also cheap because Chelsea diminished his value, his contract was running out, and they spent big money on 2 left wingers and needed to get the squad to a manageable size. Chelsea managers never believed in him. Tuchel calling him a supersub and playing Werner over him no matter how poorly Werner played.

  2. Giroud, Ruben, Puli are a better fit here and all are scoring. Better run club and a physically less demanding league than the PL. ALL have been good buys.

Just shows you that Chelsea are a dumpster fire. I will gladly take their “rejects” each and every time. Thank You Very Much.

“our team is weaker than last season… moneyball Moncada sucks… RedBird Out…” GTFO.
