CorSport: Napoli beat Milan to Italian playmaker – €10m deal to be announced in summer

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been beaten to the signing of Mattia Zaccagni by Napoli, a report claims, as they have struck a deal with Hellas Verona.

The Rossoneri have been persistently linked with a move for the 25-year-old over the past few weeks, as the playmaker has contributed five goals and five assists in 19 Serie A appearances so far this season.

In fact, Calciomercato.com reported earlier in the month that the Rossoneri have started negotiations with Verona for Zaccagni and that he could be signed and loaned back to Verona until the end of the season.

According to reports from il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) however, Zaccagni will be a new Napoli player from June. An agreement with Verona was found for €10m, but an announcement will not come until the summer window.

If the paper are correct, it now remains to be seen if Milan pursue a permanent deal for Brahim Diaz instead or whether they go for another target like Otavio of Porto.
