CorSport: Pioli has decision to make vs. Torino as Maignan returns to training

AC Milan continued their preparations for the game against Torino on Saturday night during their training session yesterday at Milanello, and updates came on injured players.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Radio Rossonera), Mike Maignan has returned to training with the rest of the squad and Pioli will evaluate whether to start him from the first minute at the weekend, given that Marco Sportiello has been in good form.

The good news is that the French goalkeeper has overcome the muscle problem that he suffered in the warm-ups before the Juventus game and Pioli will decide at the last minute whether to pick him or Sportiello.

Ismael Bennacer is expected to keep his place in the midfield after an excellent performance against Cagliari, while Tommaso Pobega – who has been out since December due to a serious injury – is a strong candidate to start too.

The midfielder who came through the youth academy and has been out for months with a hip problem could therefore return from the first minute against Torino, where he played on loan for a season.

Simon Kjaer and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are still training on their own and therefore the expectation is that they will aim for the Salernitana game, which is the final match of the season.

No need to risk Mike. Let Marco play. I’ve been impressed by him. Reminds me of Diego lopez and his panther like saves

  2. Sportiello. Could be useful to see if he could be the #1 next season as MM16 will leave in order to get the big bucks.
