CorSport: Serie A 2020/21 season will begin on September 19 – the important dates

By Isak Möller -

There will be no playoffs in Serie A next season, which will be played as normal though with a few changes to the dates. Of course, that was to be expected, given that the current season will finish this weekend.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews.it, the 2020/21 season will start on September 19 and end on May 23. It will be impossible to start again on September 12, as some clubs even wanted September 26 or October 3.

There will be a short Christmas break and little time for Roberto Mancini in order to make up for the lost time. The teams will return to the pitch on January 2-3 as the hypothesis of starting already on December 27-30 was scrapped.

Finally, the FIGC president asked to finish the league by May 16, 2021, thus giving more time to Mancini and the national team ahead of the Euros. However, the clubs voted against this and the season will end on May 23, as mentioned.
