CorSport: Serie A behind closed doors for the rest of 2020 – the situation

By Isak Möller -

As we all know, football has been brought to a halt due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Currently, the Serie A representatives are looking for a solution to resume the season. However, as time passes, it’s getting tougher and tougher.

According to today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews.it), at least until Christmas, the games will probably be played behind closed doors. Of course, it would be a major setback for all clubs, and not just for missing out on the fans’ support.

They would also have to deal with the lack of ticket revenue, not forgetting that they would also have to reimburse the season ticket holders. In other words, the Coronavirus will continue to affect the clubs negatively.

We can only hope that the virus will die out soon, although it doesn’t look like it. In the coming weeks, we will know more about the situation as Italy’s quarantine restrictions slowly are starting to pay off.
