Costacurta says Milan have ‘hope’ if Hummels plays for Dortmund: “Baresi is better now”

Alessandro Costacurta believes that AC Milan should target Mats Hummels in their Champions League games against Borussia Dortmund, presuming he plays.

Milan were included in a group together with PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United, therefore crossing paths with former players Gigio Donnarumma and Sandro Tonali.

The former Rossoneri defender, however, did not have kind words for one of Dortmund’s most decorated and recognisable players in Hummels, who of course won the World Cup with Germany in 2014.

“As long as I see Hummels on the screen I will have hope. I say this with all due respect for a champion, as long as Hummels is the owner there is hope,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“Baresi is better now than Hummels. It was a joke but I think he struggles to keep the various Leaos up to speed.”

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport doesn’t think that Hummels will be in Edin Terzic’s starting line-up, as the Dortmund boss is more likely to entrust Süle and Schlotterbeck over the former Bayern man.

The other threats include Sebastien Haller up front, Donyell Malen on the right and Marcel Sabitzer in midfield.
