Billy Costacurta shared his thoughts on AC Milan’s win against Lecce in the Sky Italia studio and only had good things to say. Above all, he highlighted the importance of the striker duo, setting an example for the rest of the players.
Milan came to life towards the end of the first half against Lecce, scoring three goals in five minutes, and showcased their impressive attack once again. Alvaro Morata opened the scoring, Theo Hernandez doubled the lead and Christian Pulisic then sealed the deal.
Speaking live on Sky Italia after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Costacurta shared his thoughts on the Rossoneri’s performance and their recipe for success. He believes the latter has a lot to do with Morata and Abraham playing together up front.
“I think Morata and Abraham are two very important players for their attitude. It’s no coincidence that the most convincing games have been with the two strikers, who run and work like this.
“I believe that this is a team that needs values and examples. And Morata is one of them. He was the captain of the national team at the Euros and he’s an example for everyone. And the others adapt,” he stated.
It remains to be seen how Paulo Fonseca will field his Milan against Bayer Leverkusen next week. Morata and Abraham have both been working very hard lately and it would be far from ideal to overwork them both, so perhaps Ruben Loftus-Cheek has a chance.
