Costacurta questions Milan’s methods: “You go to watch Inter and it’s not like that”

Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has questioned the methods of the medicla and coaching staff given the ridiculous amount of injuries the team have suffered.

It certainly won’t be a happy Christmas at Milan after the draw against Salernitana on Friday night and above all after yet another muscle problem that hit Fikayo Tomori in the second half of the game, one that is likely to keep him out for over two months.

After the game, Stefano Pioli admitted that his team seem to have lost the magic they had before – something the ownership apparently didn’t appreciate – but above all the intensity of play and speed of thought on the pitch. This is something that the athletic condition of the players certainly impacts.

Costacurta was interviewed as part of a segment on Sky Calcio Club in which Milan’s training and recovery methods were put under the microscope, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Milan have an incredible effort to run well and play with a free head, perhaps there is also a bit of psychophysical tension in the players, I don’t know… maybe they are afraid of getting hurt,” he said.

“I see the other teams who play with pace, but without doing these things that are so exaggerated, in fact I ask you: how do you think Milan train? Is there time to recover? You go to watch Inter and it’s not like that, there is a difference.”
