Conte Fonseca Capello

‘Could this ever have happened?’ – Ordine compares Fonseca’s leadership to Capello and Conte’s

Paulo Fonseca is reportedly in a similar position that he entered the last international break – his job is not secure. Today, Franco Ordine has questioned why this might be, and he reached an intriguing conclusion.

The security of Fonseca is an ongoing topic, and even in the summer, he never really seemed to have everyone involved with the club on his side. With rumours of a split with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, poor results, and now another installation of problems, the Portuguese head coach is facing a replay.

When the last international break took place, Milan were winless in their first three games and Fonseca’s future was hinging on the Champions League game against Liverpool, and the derby. Of course, we know what happened there, but there are no fixtures to provide another significant boost.

Whilst the game against Napoli could spur the side on, if the Diavolo do not return with purpose then questions will only grow in volume.

In his column for Il Giornale, Ordine discussed several things, most notably whether other figures have played a part in Fonseca’s instability, and his words have been relayed by Radio Rossonera.

“The key to the interpretation of Fonseca’s outburst is twofold: according to some, he wanted, for the first time, to make known to the outside world the responsibilities of his own players without realising that in doing so he had dealt a solemn blow to his own credibility with the public.

“Even the red card received by Theo, captain, at the end of the match is another sign of a wrong reaction, like that of Pulisic after his substitution. It shows the lack of recognition of the coach’s authority,” Ordine suggested.

“With two guys like Fabio Capello or Antonio Conte could this ever have happened? Furlani and Ibra’s sombre silence at the end of the match is a signal to be decoded in the coming hours. Including the break, they will be decisive in understanding whether the club will take sides behind Fonseca’s rant or whether it will be that very statement that triggers a different assessment.”

    1. Coaches or managers don’t score goals or prevent the opponents from scoring. The players work FOR the coach and the club. This isn’t (or shouldn’t be) a fng kindergarten where everyone does what they think they’re entitled to.

      Yes. It’s the players’ fault.

      1. Nope.

The players are the ones we actually watch play and have to deal with the circus that’s been created by the management, agents, the various hangers on including the media, and the transfer market.

Therefore the players demand our loyalty first.

Then the coach (although I don’t Fonseca will be around for long enough for me to ever build a close connection).

Then the random men (multiple, like what do they all do?) in suits which includes (unfortunately) Ibra.

At the start of the season I set my expectations for all three:

Players to finish in the top 6
Fonseca to finish in the top 4
Various Hangers On – Champions (given they sacked they guy who finished 2nd).

          1. “What’s the point of supporting or even watching a pretty ordinary Milan team?”

Fans support the team in better or worse. I do.

So you’re basically admitting you’re a gloryhunter? If things don’t go well, why bother watching, eh? I’m not surprised though.

      2. The players had no issue before this season. Théo and Leao have no issue with their national teams. This Milan is rotten and it’s not because of the players.

        1. Thats not the case at all, Theo have always been a joker and leao barely plays because of his lazyness. he is taken out early the few times he actually starts

          1. You must be one of the new fans brought here since the « focus on the US » since you obviously missed the past seasons. Welcome man 🙂

          2. Most be new? First of all you are talking about national teams, Theo along with his brother Lucas are both well known in France for their attitude and Leao barely plays for obvious reasons. Lets brush over the facts and play a sarcastic child after 🙂

          3. Well man I’m French and there is no such thing as “Theo along with his brother Lucas are both well known in France for their attitude”. Lucas has been heavily injured but he’s always called, Théo as well, by a World Cup winning coach valuing good attitude over anything else. Portugal is a mess, if you watched the Euro you know that it was mostly drama around Cristiano Ronaldo. Leao was the most dangerous player against France. Leao is a former Serie A MVP. None of Théo nor Leao had any attitude issue before this summer, when the management hired a cheap coach, said that “Théo is happy” and “I’ll pack Leao’s bags”.

      3. bb, you know what a manager does? In any company, not football only. And whose responsibility is it when people you manage aren’t giving the best and completely fulfilling their potential? The manager that was supposed to manage everything, the entire situation. Fonseca is a joke.

  1. Milan won vs a tired Inter (drawing vs MC got the best out of them), and for a moment the persistent issues were forgotten.

  2. “Lautaro Martinez and Antonio Conte had a heated argument on the touchline after the Inter coach replaced the forward in the 77th minute of the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 win against Roma on Wednesday night.

The Argentine came off the bench in the 35th minute to replace Alexis Sanchez, but Conte decided to bring him off in the second half.

Conte’s decision frustrated Lautaro, who angrily stared at his coach while heading to the bench, where the kicked a bottle which was on the floor.

“Show some respect and don’t pretend to be a superstar,” Conte said to Lautaro after seeing his player’s reaction.”

Oh look at that. I guess it has ever happened with Conte.
But when Fonseca benched, rightfully so, Theo and Leao vs Lazio, their fanboys and the media attacked Fonseca.
All these people that talk about coaches like Capello and Conte, don’t understand that Theo and Leao would have been benched or sold if those 2 were Milan coaches.
You think Conte will put up with Leao’s laziness?
Someone needs to tell them the truth and hurt their feelings that they are not superstars and then they should stop pretending to be superstars, just like Conte did with Lautaro when he was still young.

    1. @Z. Totally agree. I remember Capello sending Gullit to Sampdoria because of a disagreement with his formation and tactics. Capello also did the same to Roberto Baggio at Milan.

The truth is that Milan needed a top coach like Allegri or Conte and this inexperience clueless management chose Fonseca.

If it wasn’t for the fans revolting they would have signed Lopetegui who by the way has the same record as Fonseca this season for West Ham losing the same amount of games in Europe and in the league.

In my opinion before Milan change Fonseca I strongly believe they should change the management first.

Get rid of Furlani, Ibra and Moncada. Because until then nothing will change other than this getting worse. Rumors are that Milan is linked with Tudor and Terzic? That is not an upgrade from Pioli and Fonseca.

If this is coming down from Cardinale then I hope this Milan side burn to the ground and drop to the relegation zone because this ownership group and Milan management is a bigger problem than the coach and players.

      1. Ziontrain when are you going to show your face on ROSSONARITV again? You were super pro management and now you’ve done a complete 180. Have some balls and admit you were wrong before acting the way you are 🤷🏾‍♂️

      2. The thing is, who is to say that if by some miracle the Management is replaced that the new management will be better? What if they are worse? A la Mirabelli & Fassone? LOL!!!

    2. Speculation. Why do you assume that Théo and Leao would act the same way with Conte? They didn’t do any fuss with Pioli. And they are superstars. Leao is a former Serie A MVP. Théo is a World Cup finalist and one of the best left backs in the world. They are regressing and became thugs under Fonseca, a guy who should never be Milan’s coach in the first place.

      1. Theo and Leao act the same way as they did under Pioli.
Leao got benched in a derby because he was lazy.
Theo wasn’t getting benched because there was no back up.
Also, there were grown men in the locker room that put those 2 in their places. Grown men like Zlatan, Giroud, Kjaer, Kessie. With those players gone now the these 2 alongside Tomori are the “leaders” on the team and they can’t lead flies to shit.
Theo and Leao are no superstars. If they were they wouldn’t be playing in Milan or serie A. Remember how you always talk that Milan only cares about ROI and money? Everyone is for sale. if that was the truth those 2 “superstars” would have been sold by now, right?
So either Milan isn’t a selling club, or Theo and Leao ain’t superstars.
You can’t have it both ways.
And Leao is definitely getting sold by Conte. Anyone that has ever watched any team coached by Conte knows that he demands a lot of running by his players. Leao doesn’t like to run without the ball.
Just like Fonseca should never be a Milan coach, Theo and Leao should never be Milan captains because neither is worthy of their positions.

        1. You’re either blind or idiot. After three years under this ownership, you still fail to see that a Wall Street investment funds cares more about ROI and sustainability than football trophies. Cheap coach, cheap players, salary cap. They made Leao the star of the team last summer, in the sense that he appears on every commercial with partners so he has value, like Pulisic when they brought him for commercial reason. And it’s not like Scaroni said last summer that he was ready to pack Leao’s bags.

Anyway, good luck in your Cluedo investigation to find who’s guilty for the current mess that is growing since last season. Maldini, Pioli, Tonali, Calabria, Krunic, Bennacer, Théo, Leao, Tomori, Abraham, Fonseca, etc. Some of us already found out.

      2. When you have a bad manager that is how it looks. Players going backwards and acting like idiots. If you don’t have a manager they respect, easy to understand why.

      3. Pioli didn’t have the balls. He was too busy being fatherly with them. That’s why nothing ever changed and Leao’s & Theo’s entitled attitudes never yielded consequences. They kept starting.

      4. Question: do you think Theo or Tomori would have dared taking away a penalty that Zlatan or Giroud was about to shoot ?
Do you think Paolo Maldini would have let Theo or Leao get away with sulking in the touchline ?
It’s not Fonseca who made them thugs, it was the presence of leaders that prevented them from acting as they please.
Until 2022, Theo was a Real Madrid reject that nobody paid attention to and didn’t even play a minute for France, he had no business acting like a superstar. Leao had to escape from Lisbonne and it wasn’t until 2021/22 that he was the first choice.
That was their best season, both of them being rising young talents under the tutelage of more experienced players like Zlatan, Giroud, Kjaer and under the watch of Maldini. Once all of them were gone and it was their turn to step up and lead younger players, they failed miserably.

    3. Good comment!! I agree 100%. For the first time in a long time I am actually happy to have an international break!! Hopefully, they can sort this out, put the penalty drama behind them. Theo is banned for 2 matches so maybe now would be a good time to run a 3-4-3
      Gabbia-Pavlovic-Tomori/Thaiw
      Calabria -Fofana-Reindeers-??????
      Pulisic-Morata-Leao
Not sure who to put in Theo’s LWB spot RLC/Musah 🤷🏻‍♂️. Tammy is just not clinical at the moment so the 4-4-2 doesn’t work every game. Calabria links up way better with Pulisic than Emerson does. Tactics need to change, something needs to change, the defense move the ball across the back way too slow, the midfield is completely congested, Emerson is always open with acres of space but doesn’t get the pass (not sure he is trusted by his teammates, maybe they feel he is a risk to lose possession). Runs by our attackers are not having the ball played to them. The defense is playing very scared, afraid to pass forward, Pulisic and Morata often try to occupy the same space because they both are coming back and are hungry for the ball. Man it’s a mess. I hope Calabria is healthy for next match and starts instead of Emerson. Wtf recruited Emerson? How could they not notice his speed issue. Why would you willingly bring a slow RB into this squad. Man we really needed the 3 points from Fiorentina, but like I said we move on. Hopefully something clicks real soon or this season could be lost

    4. Man, you don’t seem to understand what a good manager is. Look at Lukaku, he was fat for the past 2 seasons and now with Conte he looks 10 years younger. Why? Because Conte is a top manager, knows how to manage big characters and does it really good. That is why a top manager would 100% handle this better than Fonseca, who I would presume can’t even manage his kids properly. This is the difference and why it would not be the same. Yes, Leao maybe wouldn’t play 5 games but later he would be better than ever. And so on.

      1. Lukaku scored 21 goals last season for Roma. Pretty good for a dude that was really fat and bad without Conte. Leao has never come close to scoring that many goals.
Being lazy and being fat are 2 very different things.
Being fat is a discipline flaw. Conte can put him on a diet and training regimen and can fix that.
Being lazy is a character flaw.
Leao is lazy and no coach will ever change that especially not at his age.
        Conte isn’t a miracle worker.

        1. Carlo said to Ronaldo (r9) that he is 2 fat and needs to loses weight if he wants to play.
Ronaldo replied if Carlo wants him to run or score goals.
Next match Carlo played him and Ronaldo scored twice.

Idk of this is true or not, saw it online, but I do like it.

          1. I did see that one as well, and this a well past prime Ronaldo.
Players like Ronaldo, Maradona, Messi and Ronaldinho could get away with this because when they deliver, they give you once in a lifetime performances, performances that only they can deliver.
