CorSport: Date set for Giroud’s return to Milan training

By Euan Burns -

French striker Olivier Giroud is set to be back in AC Milan training on Friday as he makes his return from holiday after the World Cup in Qatar, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Pianeta Milano), the French striker is going to be back in training at Milanello on Friday having helped his national team reach the final of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Unfortunately for him and Theo Hernandez, France were beaten on penalties by Argentina after the game ended 3-3 in extra time.

Stefano Pioli may need to ask Giroud to come straight back into the action when Milan take on Salernitana on January 4, the first game back after the World Cup. This is because both Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Divock Origi will still be out injured.

There are other plans that Pioli will assess, such as using Charles De Ketelaere as a false nine or playing Ante Rebic as the striker.
